The release allows users to search, filter, and download U.S. Maritime imports dataset by HS code, a standardized international system for classifying goods. Previously, U.S. import data relied on vague, inconsistent product descriptions. ImportGenius now transforms that data into structured, searchable intelligence.

ImportGenius’ new HS code enrichment system provides a dual-model approach that delivers accuracy and transparency. With this feature, users can:

- Understand a company’s product focus at scale
- Analyze trade activity, sourcing behavior, and competitor shipments with greater precision
Nearly 70% of U.S. import records from 2024–2025 are already enriched with HS codes, and historical backfilling is underway.
How it works: AI-powered enrichment with tiered precision
ImportGenius combines two AI systems:
- Product sanitizer, which detects HS codes embedded in descriptions
- HS code classifier, a machine learning model trained on millions of trade records
Only predictions with 80%+ confidence appear in the platform. When confidence is lower, the system automatically falls back to broader HS4 or HS2 levels, ensuring accuracy without sacrificing coverage.
